Every day comes with its duties and errands to run. Sometimes even so many that we get carried away and loose the track of time. Though, we cannot forget that children also need their share of your time and attention, and not only for common dinners and quarterly shopping, but also for playing, having fun and simply being together to bond. Here are some tips on how to find time to spend together with your family even for the most busiest ones!
As Kristen Harding from My Family Care explains "Spending quality time together is important – it helps our children to feel more confident and secure, builds stronger family bonds and is good for our own emotional health."!
1. Make quality family time a priority
A person cannot simply assume the time will show up and suddenly there will be an hour a day to spend with kids. We must try and to make it a priority to clear your schedule a bit. It is as important as a meeting at work - it really is! With this partner (your child) you will have to cooperate for way longer period of time than the rest :)
2. Find common hobbies and interests
This way you will not only make time for your kids, but also hobbies that you have been putting off as not so important. Finding balance between duties, work, family time and hobbies is the key to feeling happy on daily basis!
New research published by the Society for Personality and Social Psychology (and not the Institute of the Completely Obvious, as you may have expected), says that valuing your time more than the pursuit of money leads to feelings of greater well-being. And by valuing your time, they mean spending it wisely on hobbies, exercising or being with your family (source).
3. Be present
As it is with work things, it relates also to family time - if you do something, do it without dividing your attention to several things. This is why it is calls quality family time - it has all your attention, love, and care. Multi-tasking is a skill valued by many parents, but this is not something to master while being with your family.
Knowing you are laughing alongside them or asking questions at the end means they feel like you’re a bigger part of something they enjoy.
